Vision & Mission

Vision

Our Vision is to become the premiere provider of quality professional  nurses of top-notch standard. We are working  closely with KNUST to  benchmark world class standards and help address the critical shortage  of graduate nursing professional in our health care system by turning  out a minimum of 100 graduate nurses per annum from the third year of  operation and also expand to incorporate post graduate programs in  nursing.

Institutional Objectives

To meet the mission targets stated above, the St. Karol shall:

  • Recruit and provide orientation for staff to share in the vision of St. Karol and to become committed to its ideals.
  • Arrange and supervise attachment Programs as integral part of the course offered to students.
  • Establish an effective Guidance and Career Counseling Department to  provide students with the opportunity to make informed career choices  and assist in solving personal and institutional crises and challenges.
  • Provide mature, needy and deprived students an opportunity for Nursing  education and academic upgrading, in line with our vision.
  • Emphasize practical attachment, dissertation writing and oral presentation as part of our public speaking training.

Mission

The Mission of St. Karol is to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge  as it relates to nursing care of individuals, families and communities  in health, illness and disaster. The mission would be fulfilled through  teaching, research, clinical practice and service. In addition, St.  Karol intends to educate the community to be accountable and responsible  for its own health especially in the area of HIV/AIDS and other  communicable diseases. The School of Nursing is committed to three areas  of responsibility for nursing education.

  1. The production of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Midwifery  prepared to function in a variety of urban and rural setting in and  outside Ghana.
  2. The upgrading of current diploma nurses to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) status.
  3. The production of graduate nurse specialists (post graduate studies)  through sandwich programs in collaboration with reputable local and  foreign institutions.
